Viscosity is a premium VPN software. It’s the most stable OpenVPN client on Windows.

Recommendations

  • Paid Software- Viscosity is a premium software and requires payment. If you prefer a free alternative, pick another software/protocol on our setup page.

Requirements

  • Operating System- Windows 7 SP1, 8 & 10. Windows Server 2008 SP1, 2012, 2016 & 2019. macOS 10.9+. For any other OS, go to our setup page.
  • An active Plan/Service on IPBurger.com. Follow this guide to purchase a plan.
  • Unrestricted Internet- If your ISP/Country is known to ban/block VPN Protocols, such as China, Iran, etc, this software/protocol won’t work. Please contact our support.

Leak Prevention

  • Disable IPv6. IPv6 is known to cause leaks, which could end up in completely revealing your identity. Follow Guide: Disable IPv6. You need to do it only once.
  • Prevent DNS Leaks
    In Windows 8 & 10, new Smart DNS features are known to cause DNS Leaks. Follow Guide: Prevent DNS Leaks in Windows 8 and 10. You need to do it only once.

Connect to VPN with Viscosity

1. Get Viscosity

Note: If you have already installed the app, then you can skip this step.

Install Viscosity from here: Install Viscosity

2. Get OpenVPN credentials for your IP address

Viscosity uses OpenVPN protocol. Find your OpenVPN credentials from your Service Page.

Further steps shows how to get credentials for:

Login to your account, and find the IP address/Service you want to use.

Click on the Download VPN Credentials button, and select OpenVPN.

This will download a profile file for your proxy.

B. VPN

Access your VPN Service here. Click on the Manage button.

Click on the Download VPN Credentials button, and select OpenVPN.

Select a location.

This will download a profile file for your VPN.

3. Connect to VPN

Open the downloaded Credentials file and let it import into Viscosity.

As the installation finishes, IPBurger will start automatically and you will see it in the Menu bar. You can connect to your VPN from there.

Now you are connected to IPBurger VPN.

Next Steps

Auto-Connect

You can set up your VPN to connect automatically when you login into your computer.

Click on the Viscosity icon and go to Preferences.

Go to General tab and enable the Start Viscosity at Login .

Enable Connect when Viscosity opens and Save.

Kill Switch

Kill Switch blocks you from exposing your Real IP Address, if the VPN Connection ever drops.

We currently don’t have a kill switch for macOS.
